Plug in your Ipod and microphone and you are set up and ready to teach. I use themin the locations where I teach Jazzercise. I've bought three of these systems now. They are fantastic. The sound is full and youcan also use your microphone with this system.
The PD150 was so small I almost didn't see the speakers that were simply sitting on the gym floor behind the performers, but there was no mistaking the rich full sound, and the full clear range of highs and lows that are extremely uncommon in such a poor accoustical space. If you need a small, portable, and increadibly inexpensive system with great quality power and sound, I strongly recommend that you check this system out. This may be a bit unorthodox as I do not actually own this system, but I have been a live audio tech for many years, and I was recently at an elementary school watching a dance performance in the gymnasium with 500 students and was so impressed by the music and voice amplification, that I stayed around to ask what the system was. And then to see the ease of teardown, I was hooked.I have been looking for a portable system for a traveling musical group that I work with, and this system (or perhaps it's big brother the PD250 with more inputs) are now at the top of my list.
Would recommend it for small to medium group settings. It isn't big enough for a large crowd though. The sound is very good for such a small portable easy to transport unit. Four different things at once. I use is to perform at a nursing home setting playing guitar and singing, and use some canned music too. I was hoping to find a combo guitar amp and mixer and came across this. The unit is so versatile, can amplify microphones, stereo inputs, instruments, whatever you want to hook up to it. High quality and well designed.
I also have the battery pack so I can use it outdoors, and this works great. The only downfall is that there is no subwoofer, and therefore very limited bass. I'm very pleased with the overall sound quality, and the ease of set up. For my purposes, though, it's worked great and I highly recommend it with the above noted exception. I am a magician, and use it for my shows to amplify both voice and music.
I also love that it is so portable, weighing in at only 35 pounds. I have the speaker stands as well as the PA system, so with the elevated speakers the sound covers the room very well. I also use it in my church to amplify our keyboard and occasionally our vocalists. I've used this for about 4 years now, and am very pleased with it. This has covered crowds of up to 300 people for me, and works like a charm.
This has never been a problem for me, as I use it primarily for voice amplification, but for a DJ, or someone who wanted to use it primarily for music, the lack of that heart-thumping bass might be a problem for you.
My wife runs a children's choir and this is a great sound system from the concerts.
